Job Description

The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, providing professional front-desk support in a fast-paced healthcare setting. This role ensures efficient office operations by managing scheduling, patient intake, and administrative tasks while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

Greet and check in patients, verify personal and insurance information, and maintain accurate records
Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using electronic medical record (EMR) systems
Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct communications to appropriate staff
Collect co-pays, process payments, and maintain billing documentation
Prepare and organize patient charts, forms, and medical records in compliance with HIPAA
Coordinate with providers, medical assistants, and other staff to ensure smooth patient flow
Handle referrals, authorizations, and insurance verification as needed
Maintain clean and organized front office area

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (medical office certification preferred)
1+ year of medical reception or healthcare administrative experience
Familiarity with EMR systems and basic billing processes
Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy clinical environment
Knowledge of insurance plans, referrals, and authorizations
Experience with scheduling systems and patient coordination
